In any case, Superman knew he was so special that he had to hide his true self to avoid turning himself into a sort of piece of museum everybody wanted to come, see, touch, interview, examine, etc. As I see it, Superman is a metaphoric genius. |

In this case Superman was created by two Jews in cleveland, 1932. My guess is that they were introverts like clark kent, yet dreamed of being a "superman" tougher than any nazi. Kal-El was a symbol, a foreigner made good in america.
The metaphor of Superman is one of rising from weakness and shrugging off the everyday embarrassments, rising up to be a hero. Imagine how powerless a jewish comic book author would have felt in 1932. Superman was a way to transcend that. |
